This comforting mug of goodness is my period hot chocolate recipe made with real cacao, a touch of natural sweetness, and optional collagen for added hormone support.

Ingredients
2TbspCacao powder
2TbspCollagenoptional
1pinchSalt
1dashVanilla extract
1-2TbspPure maple syrupadjust to taste
1cupMilkI use whole milk, but alternative milks will also work
Instructions
Steam or heat the milk on the stove or in the microwave until warm (not boiling). I prefer to microwave the milk in a glass container in two 45-second bursts, and stirring in between.
In your mug, add the cacao, collagen (if using), salt, vanilla, and maple syrup, and small amount of milk. Quickly whisk or froth together, creating a thick sauce mixture.
Slowly pour in the rest of the warm milk while continuing to whisk until smooth and frothy.

Notes
Add 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract for a Christmas-y version of this drink!
